He lost everything in the fire. But clinging to a semblance of life gave him a reason to go on.

Rebuild what matters

Then Léa arrived. Her granddaughter.
She had learned what had happened and had left everything to come. Their embrace lasted a long time, without a word. She decided to stay. To help rebuild, of course… but above all to rebuild what cannot be seen.

A few months later, I went back to visit them.
The accommodation was modest, still partly under construction, but bathed in light. Laughter echoed. Sparks ran everywhere.

Lucas showed me a photo on a shelf: him, Léa, and the kitten.
"I lost everything," he said with a gentle smile. "But I found so much more. There's always hope."

Sometimes life takes almost everything away from us… to remind us that the essentials can be contained in two little paws, a rediscovered bond, and the courage to start again.
