The evening of the wedding: a grand entrance

Julien had left, giving me a categorical "You're not coming ." Perfect.
I took a taxi. Arriving at the venue, a splendid hall, I took a deep breath… and I went in.
The conversations stopped. Eyes turned. And I, upright and calm, went to greet the hosts.
When Julien saw me, his face froze. He hadn't expected it. He stammered. Too late.
That evening, I existed. For myself.
I laughed. I danced. I talked about my reading, my projects, my passions. And for the first time in a long time, I saw interest in people's eyes. Not for my husband. For me.
When he finally confronted me, unsettled, I simply told him:
"Tonight, you wanted to shine. You succeeded: everyone saw you for who you truly are."
Then I turned on my heel and left.
