What does it mean if a moth enters your home?

If you see a moth flying around your lamp, it's not a coincidence. These insects are naturally attracted to light sources.

This well-known phenomenon drives them to head towards light bulbs, screens, or even the light that comes through your windows.

In reality, this attraction can disorient them: they normally use natural light to find their way, and our modern lighting confuses their bearings.

The result: they enter your home… without really having planned it.

A simple quest for food

Some species also come for a very simple reason: to find something to eat.

Adults are generally not very interested in your cupboards, but their larvae love certain foods or materials. Flour, cereals, natural textiles… all ideal resources for their development.

That is why a moth can sometimes be a sign that you need to check your food supplies or clothes that have been stored away for a long time.

Looking for a quiet place

Like many small animals, moths seek quiet and protected places.

Your home can offer them exactly what they need: shelter from temperature variations, bad weather, or predators.

They particularly appreciate dark corners such as closets, attics or rarely frequented nooks and crannies.

A real little haven… on their scale!
